The idea behind the creation of the Auckland City Mission Capital Foundation came out of the desire by the Trustees to create a fund that was independent yet would sit alongside and support the work of the Auckland City Mission. The fund would eventually provide a regular source of income to the City Mission from investments made by the Foundation.
The Trustees have the responsibility of preserving and building the capital of the fund and at an appropriate time in the future, will help to provide an assured source of income for the work undertaken by the Mission each year.
We have been very fortunate to secure a benefactor who has donated one million dollars to the Foundation and for every other dollar we receive they will match it dollar for dollar.
This is a great incentive to build the Foundation.
I believe the Foundation concept will appeal to other donors who would like to see their funds being invested and the income from those investments being used by the Auckland City Mission to operate their services, while preserving the capital.
